Your first autocross

03 — Newcomers

  1. Register online

    Entries open about two weeks out on MotorsportReg. Non-members can still run: that entry includes a weekend membership. Registering on the day costs a little more, and we do not take cash.

  2. Prep the car

    Empty it out, check the battery hold-down, set tires a few psi high. Any street-legal car passes tech — bring a helmet or borrow one of ours.

  3. Walk the course

    Gates at 7:00 AM, novice walk at 8:15 AM. Ask for an instructor — they ride along free and will take a few seconds off your day.

  4. Work, rest, drive

    The field splits into three or four run groups. Across the day you work a heat, sit one out and drive your own. It is how the event runs at all, and working is how you learn the course.

Three sanctions, three separate championships. They do not share points, classes or standings, so each one keeps its own results.
